Beaverton Township, Michigan : ウィキペディア英語版 | Beaverton Township, Michigan
Beaverton Township is a civil township of Gladwin County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 1,815. The City of Beaverton is at the northeast of the township and incorporates some land that was formerly in the township, but is administratively autonomous. == History ==
The 1851 survey of what later became Beaverton Township depicts the eastern terminus of the "Muskegon River Trail" in the northwest corner of section 12 at the original confluence of the three branches of the Tobacco River. This appears to be part of a cross-state route that permitted parties to navigate from Saginaw Bay, up the Saginaw, Tittabawassee & Tobacco rivers, portage across to the Muskegon River then float to Lake Michigan. None of the three branches of the Tobacco was suitable for canoes - they meandered too much and often did not have deep enough water.
